TravelLog

Your car's trips, private by design.

TravelLog records the trips your car makes, by itself, and keeps them encrypted in your own Google Drive. See your distance, consumption and charging on your phone. No TravelLog server, no ads, no tracking.

The car app is for cars with Android Automotive OS, such as the Polestar 2. The phone app is for Android phones and tablets.

What it does

Records itself

The car app starts when you drive and logs every trip: the route on a map, distance, speed, and the electricity or fuel used. Charging and fuelling stops are marked and kept out of the consumption.

Encrypted before it leaves the car

Each trip is locked with a key that stays on your devices. Google Drive only ever stores unreadable files, and the key is never sent anywhere.

Statistics you can use

Consumption per 100 km, distance and average speed for today, 30 days, 90 days or all time, with and without a trailer. Mark trips as private or work, and export them as a CSV file.

How it works

  1. Install the car app and let it record. Nothing else is needed for the trips to be saved in the car.
  2. Connect your Google Drive on the car and set your key. Your trips are uploaded, encrypted, to a private folder.
  3. Open the phone app, sign in with the same Google account, and scan the car's QR code (or type your recovery key).

What access it asks for

TravelLog asks Google for one permission only, drive.file. It lets the apps see only the files they created themselves, in a folder called "TravelLog". They can't see anything else in your Drive, and they don't receive your name.

The apps read the email address of the connected account only to show you which account is in use. It stays on your device. Read the privacy policy for everything the apps handle.
